GRASS-RaPlaT

The Radio Planning Tool for GRASS GIS system

GRASS-RaPlaT is an open-source radio planning tool developed by support of Slovenian largest mobile operator Mobitel. It is especially designed for radio coverage calculation of GSM/UMTS systems, but can be applied also to other wireless systems in the frequency range 400 MHz – 2.4 GHz (e.g. TETRA, WiFi). Its structure is modular and characterized by high level of flexibility and adaptability.

The tool operates in the open-source GIS environment GRASS (Geographical Resources Analysis Support System). The developed GRASS modules can be used individually or as a whole, by applying Python based scripts. The results can be stored to standard GRASS formats or written to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).

The tool is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Easily you can run it as virtual machine using VMware Player.
